3 Days in Timbio

Day 1: Arrival and Exploration

Next, I headed to the town square to see the historic church and take in the local atmosphere. In the afternoon, I decided to take a hike through the nearby rainforest, where I was able to see a variety of exotic birds and animals. For dinner, I stopped at a local restaurant called El Pollo Gordo, where I tried the town's specialty dish, ajiaco, which is a hearty soup made with chicken, potatoes, and corn. It was a delicious and filling meal!

Day 2: Outdoor Adventures

On my second day, I wanted to explore more of Timbio's natural beauty. I took a guided hike through the nearby mountains, where I was able to see stunning views of the countryside and spot even more wildlife. In the afternoon, I visited a nearby coffee plantation, where I was able to learn about the coffee making process and try some fresh Colombian coffee. For dinner, I went to a local seafood restaurant called Marisqueria Casablanca, where I tried the town's other specialty dish, arroz con camarones, which is a savory shrimp and rice dish. It was a great way to end a fun-filled day of outdoor adventures.

Day 3: Cultural Immersion

On my last day in Timbio, I decided to immerse myself in the town's unique indigenous culture. I visited a local indigenous community, where I was able to learn about their customs and traditions. I also had the chance to try some traditional dishes like changua, which is a hearty soup made with milk and eggs. In the afternoon, I visited a local cacao farm, where I was able to see how chocolate is made from start to finish. At the end of the day, I said my goodbyes to the welcoming locals and headed back home, feeling grateful for the experience.
